Cacao ceremony

With a ceremony you can celebrate an important moment, but a cocoa ceremony can even be healing. We know ceremonies primarily as ritual gatherings of great importance among traditional peoples. In your own life, however, such rituals can also have a place. Meet the cocoa ceremony.

The origin of cocoa

Chocolate is held in high regard within various cultures, especially in Central and South America. Among the Maya, for example, the cocoa ceremony is celebrated with both family and outsiders. This ceremony is also called Heart Healing, healing for the heart. But to properly fathom the significance of cocoa in ceremony, let’s first delve deeper into what cocoa actually is.

Cacao is considered sacred in South American cultures. It is a tropical fruit native to the South American continent. It prefers tropical climates and is therefore cultivated in these warm areas. To make chocolate from cocoa, the seeds are ground and then fermented. This is how it is made into a paste.

We know cocoa here in the West as a sweet treat, but the original peoples drank it as a bitter, frothy drink called xocolatl. It was drunk as a kind of coffee as part of the cacao ceremony. Cocoa was considered a gift from the gods. The only bitter chocolate we know is raw cacao or dark chocolate.

So there are clear differences between our delicious sweet chocolate and the cocoa used by the natural peoples. Ceremonial cocoa is really only used for ceremonial purposes. It is not processed in the same way as the cocoa from which ordinary chocolate is made. It is kept as pure as possible, which also preserves all the valuable nutrients, such as antioxidants (flavonoids), phenylalanine, theobromine, tryptophan and minerals.

The healing effects of the cocoa ceremony

What exactly does the cocoa ceremony involve? It is a sacred ritual for which ample time is taken. You drink the pure cocoa drink and meditate while doing so. The cocoa is central, as it is believed to contain a spirit that helps you enter a meditative state and open your heart. You can do a cocoa ceremony alone, but traditionally it is done with several people at once.

A healing cocoa ceremony is led by a Mayan Wisdom Keeper (or someone trained by a Wisdom Keeper). Participants sit together in a quiet room and drink the cocoa drink. Then the meditative process begins, where you open yourself to all that the cocoa has to offer you.

Cocoa is considered the medicine of the heart. During the ceremony, you can feel your heart being opened and access feelings of happiness and connection. Sacred cocoa also contains large amounts of magnesium and theobromine. These promote blood flow, which stimulates the heart rate. Theobromine is known to have a positive effect on your mood. Furthermore, it also contains tryptophan, which can boost your serotonin levels.

Because you feel exhilarated and euphoric, it is only natural that you will make contact with your inner child during the ceremony. This gives you the opportunity to heal old wounds from the past.

Harnessing the power of cocoa

It can be very valuable to attend such a cocoa ceremony once. It can be a good way to connect more deeply with yourself and gain insight into what is going on deep inside. The healing effect of the cacao ceremony revolves around gentle, loving energy and helps to heal the bonds with yourself and others and more self-love experience. If you want to try this yourself, look for reliable facilitators who organize such a ceremony. Keep in mind that the cocoa drink you will be drinking is nothing like the familiar chocolate or chocolate milk. The drink is very bitter.

Your own cacao ceremony with healing effects

If you want to benefit from the power of cocoa, there are other ways to do so. You can make your own magic cocoa drink. Take the time to prepare your ritual and use real raw cacao. This has not been heated above 42 degrees, so it still contains all the valuable nutrients. Use between 35 and 40 grams of cocoa. Heat water to 70 degrees and add the cocoa and possibly some spices (such as cayenne pepper, cinnamon or ginger). Then shape your ritual in your own way.

With microdosing you can likewise support your mental and physical health. In this, you take a very low dose of magic truffles. Cocoa and microdosing form a powerful combination that synergistically enhance each other’s effects. In our shop you will find Wize Roots Synergy, where you take your microdose of truffles together with raw cacao. Wize Roots Full Focus combines magic truffles with cocoa, Lion’s Mane and Ginkgo Biloba.

In our society, chocolate is nothing but a nice sweet and creamy snack. Because ordinary chocolate is highly processed and has all kinds of unhealthy substances added to it, it does not compare to real cocoa. Cacao can be so much more. Are you open to the power and healing effects of cacao ceremony? Then get into this and perform a ritual yourself or find someone to organize the ceremony.
