Sometimes you feel like making a big sweep through your home and that’s the time to do a cleaning ritual. This means that you don’t just simply clean, but really make it a ritual. You proceed very consciously, and this conscious attention provides more than just an ordinary cleanse. In this blog, you’ll read about what’s involved.
How do you begin a house cleaning ritual?
In fact, you can do a cleansing ritual at any time: when you feel the need for a new beginning, when you feel the energy is stagnant or a breath of fresh air is allowed to blow through your home. But the beginning of the new year is, of course, a great time for a fresh start. In this regard, cleaning a space can also be a way to mentally clean up some things.
When you want to start doing this, it is good to first consider your motivation. What do you want to start clearing and cleaning and what do you want to achieve by doing so? You then take this energy with you during the process. Gratitude for what you have is also good to take away. Speak your intentions and keep them in mind while cleaning.
Next, think about what you want to use during the cleanse. Of course, you can use regular cleaning products, but it is also very nice to make your own cleaning products. These do not burden the environment and work just as well. Below we give you some recipes. To motivate you during your cleaning, put on inspirational music. Dancing and singing work even better! Take your time with your home cleaning ritual, do it quietly and thoughtfully. You can take as much time as you want.
Cleaning products you make yourself!
It can add an extra dimension to your cleaning ritual to make your own cleaning products. Maybe you always do, but for those who don’t, you’ll find a few recipes below.
Degreasing spray
This spray is convenient for use in the kitchen. Take 2 tablespoons of baking soda and mix it with a dash of liquid soap and 20 drops of essential lemon oil. Put this mixture into an empty plant sprayer and top up with warm water. Mix well so that the baking soda dissolves well.
All-purpose cleaner
For this recipe, you will need Marseilla soap. Grate 20 grams of a block of soap and dissolve it in 1.5 liters of boiling water. Let it boil for a while until it dissolves well. Pour the soap solution into a bucket and let it cool. The mixture thickens a bit and then is ready.
Cleaning ritual for your home
Cleaning, of course, can be done in a variety of ways. You clean surfaces and remove dust and dirt. But when you perform it as a ritual, you do even more than that. You move the energy, remove impurities and make room for positive energy. When you proceed with conscious attention, you remove not only dirt but also stagnant energy.
You can use your intentions in the process. You can say these out loud while cleaning, or repeat them in your mind. You can also proceed mindfully and keep your mind pure and calm. You then attract this very energy to the space you are cleaning. You will find that you yourself will also feel more satisfied and calm during work that way. When you vacuum up dust and sweep window sills, you can imagine that you are also mentally cleaning up all sorts of things. But to really clean on an energetic level, you can choose to perform a spiritual cleansing ritual.
Spiritual cleansing ritual
Is it time to go really deep? Then you clean not only on a physical level, but also on a spiritual level. It may be that this attracts you as you move into a new home, so you can really make it your own. Perhaps you’ve been through an intense time and want to put that behind you. Whatever it is, with a spiritual cleansing ritual for your home, you can get rid of negative energy that may still be hanging around.
Whether you are sensitive to energies in a space or not, such a ritual can make you feel like you are making a space clean and fresh again. You can use intentions with this, too. But be sure to also use incense, sage and/or Palo Santo wood. Optionally, you can include a spring to waft the smoke into the room.
Sage is known for its cleansing properties. When you use sage or incense to cleanse, it is called smudging. The smoke that spreads helps expel negative energies or spirits. To begin, open a window (so the energies can get away). Light the incense or sage so that it glows and emits smoke. If necessary, keep a bowl under your incense that can catch the ashes.
Now walk around the room and wave the smoke around, paying particular attention to corners where energy can linger and places where it feels dark and heavy. Speak your intention or a mantra, which helps expel negative energy and attract positive. After cleansing, you can once again go through your home with Palo Santo, which is known for its grounding and calming properties. It would attract happiness and love.
Are you ready for change?
A cleansing ritual for your home is a good time to get yourself ready for change, too. Do you often get stuck, feel like you keep falling into the same patterns of behavior? Would you like to suffer less from anxiety and be comfortable in the flow? Microdosing is a great way to initiate this change process.
When you microdose, you take a very low dose of a mind-altering drug so you can take advantage of the effects without hallucinating. User experiences suggest that it can help relieve anxiety, break patterns and stimulate creativity. So make microdosing part of your cleaning ritual and give your home and yourself a nice, fresh start.
