Anyone who has ever used magic mushrooms knows that they don’t taste all that great. That’s why many people are always looking for recipes, with which you can have a more palatable start to your trip. One of the lesser-known options for using magic mushrooms or truffles is magic mushroom milk. The milk can somewhat mute the bitter taste of mushrooms, and in doing so, it can be combined with other drinks and dishes. Therefore, in this blog you will read how to make magic mushroom milk and how to use it.

Quick try: Magic Mushroom milk

Mushrooms have quite a bitter taste. Some people just hold their noses and swallow their magic mushrooms quickly. But it may well be that you don’t find that so easy. Mushrooms and truffles also have a special texture that might be objectionable to you. Therefore, it is always nice when there are more opportunities to take them.

Well there is the famous mushroom tea or you can mix your mushrooms into a salad. But fortunately, there are plenty of people who come up with ways to take magic mushrooms in a different way. There are even cookbooks full of recipes using magic mushrooms, such as the Psilocybin Chef Cookbook by Virginia Haze and Dr. K. Mandrake. In it we found a basic recipe for a hot milk extract. That can be a good way to take your magic mushrooms. But what about the possibility that dairy products can slow or even nullify your trip?

Not tripping with dairy?

You may know the story that dairy products are not recommended if you want to trip with psilocybin. It would be the lactose that could give your trip an early end or even prevent you from tripping. So it is surprising to find a recipe for mushrooms and milk. The question, then, is whether the combination of lactose and psilocybin is really that bad.

So that turns out to be a myth. There is no scientific evidence at all that lactose counteracts the effects of psilocybin. And there are an awful lot of people who combine magic mushrooms with great success (and beautiful trips as a result) with milk, for example, in ice cream, smoothies and other lactose-containing dishes. So the recipe below is definitely recommended if you want to take your shrooms in a different way.

The recipe of magic mushroom milk

Those who want to try this delicious milk can use the recipe below. Milk combines well with mushrooms and truffles because the creamy taste of dairy really complements the earthy flavor of the mushrooms. For this recipe, you will need the following items:

  • 10 grams of fresh mushrooms or truffles
  • Milk (regular or vegetable)
  • Measuring cup
  • Spoon
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Tea towel or cheesecloth
  • Pan

Here’s how to make it

Choose a type of milk you like. This can be regular cow’s milk, or of course a plant-based variety, such as soy milk, rice milk, coconut milk or oat milk. It’s all possible, and each variant adds its own flavor to the magic mushroom milk. You don’t have to worry about lactose, so you can also use cow’s milk just fine.

Get all the supplies ready before you begin. Pour 500 ml of milk into the pan. Next, chop the truffles or mushroom finely with a sharp knife. Keep in mind that the smaller the pieces are, the better they can be mixed with the milk. Now heat the milk, but do not let it boil. Keep stirring well so it doesn’t burn. Turn off the fire in time. Then add the mushrooms or truffles to the hot milk and let them steep for 15 to 20 minutes. When the time is up, grab the measuring cup. Place the tea towel or cheesecloth over the measuring cup and press the center down a bit. This will ensure that the milk you pour on it later doesn’t flow right off.

Now you are going to strain the milk. Pour the mushroom-milk mixture onto the cloth, so that this special milk ends up in the measuring cup, but the pieces of mushroom remain on the cloth. Make sure you empty the pan well, use a spoon to take everything out. Grasp the cloth by the corners and squeeze out all the liquid. Use good amount of power, every drop you still get out contains some magic! You have now made magic mushroom milk!

How can you use magic mushroom milk?

Basically, the milk is now ready and you can start drinking it. Add some honey or cinnamon to taste to get an even more delicious flavor. But this is just the basics, you can now also use your creativity on it and use the milk in other dishes. Just make sure these are dishes you won’t be boiling or baking. In that case, the hallucinogenic properties of psilocybin are lost, and that, of course, is not the intention.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Coffee or tea with magic milk
  • Add milk to smoothies
  • For an extra magical breakfast, have cereal or granola with magic mushroom milk
  • The tastiest chocolate milk, of course, is made with mushroom milk
  • Make a psychedelic sauce or soup with dinner
  • You can also make ice cream with this delicious mushroom milk
  • Dips based on magic mushroom milk are also highly recommended to have a super fun party!

So the possibilities are almost endless. Now you have even more (delicious) ways to enjoy your magic mushrooms and truffles. We wish you much eating and drinking pleasure!
