Description

The Lion’s Mane Liquid Culture Syringe is an efficient tool for growing Lion’s Mane mushrooms at home. This syringe is filled with already developed mycelium, allowing for more streamlined and stable growth than traditional methods using spores. This pre-grown mycelium makes it possible, after inoculation of a suitable medium, to see mushrooms appear in as little as six weeks.

It is important to note that the contents of the syringe are intended only for colonizing substrates and are not suitable for direct consumption. Lion’s Mane is an unusual mushroom, notable for its unique appearance of long, hanging protrusions reminiscent of a lion’s mane. Unlike many other mushrooms, it does not have a typical cap but consists of root-like threads.

Found naturally in the forests of Europe and Asia, this mushroom has a rich history, both in cooking and in traditional East Asian medicine. Lion’s Mane is known for its potentially beneficial properties, contributing to its popularity both for culinary use and in traditional medicine.

Contents

These items are further packaged in a zippered bag to further protect against contamination.

  • 1x 20 ml liquid culture in a syringe
  • 1x alcohol wipe
  • 1x sterile needle

Use

  • Add 1-2ml per 1L jar of sterilized grain.
  • Shake the liquid culture well before use; the Lion’s Mane mycelium may clump.
  • Be patient after inoculation. Lion’s Mane mycelium has slow and sometimes irregular growth. It may seem like no growth is taking place, but the process has probably already begun.

After use

  • Store it again in the refrigerator.
  • Dry the needle thoroughly a new alcohol wipe before replacing the protective cap to prevent rust.
  • Optional: use a lighter to heat the needle and evaporate any remaining water. Then let it cool before replacing the cap.
  • Put the liquid culture in a ziplock bag for extra protection and place it back in the refrigerator.

These instructions ensure that the liquid culture remains effective and usable for as long as possible.

What substrate do we grow on?

Large-scale cultivation of Lion’s Mane requires a specific bulk substrate. You can use various hardwoods for this, such as poplar, oak, alder, maple, birch, ash, beech, and elm, mixed with bran.
